Civic school of contemporary art - Manifesto for a community pedagogy.
15 100cmx70cm posters: Inhabit - Open - Activism - Civic - Community - Hegemony - Independent - Participate - Politics - Presiding - Public - Rooted - Radical - Territory - Transformation.
The collective created a theoretical manifesto of the Scuola Civica Arte Contemporanea: fifteen key words followed by a short text, which summarize the rooting process within the community carried out through the practices of radical pedagogy and political activism.
Inhabit to observe, listen, comprehend, enter without pretensions, with a spirit of service and without any obligation to create works of art in the traditional sense of the term. |
Open educational activities must be accessible, free and feeless, adopting an attitude that fills the gap between of the population and the languages of contemporary art. |
Activism - art without class warfare it’s mere decoration. |
Civic to carry out actions of rooting and mediation through public and free journeys and activities. To elaborate projects of public art together with the community. |
Community root in a territory and in a community requires a courageous, revolutionary gesture: that of being part of it. |
Hegemony art and culture are the field of action for hegemonic relationships: carrying forward a counter-narrative without contributing to legitimizing an elitist system. |
Independent to seek forms of ethical financing, to activate free donation campaigns that involve the community, not carry out projects just to obtain funding. |
Participating to activate exchanges of knowledge, to create social relationships, to make one's skills available, enhancing above all those gained from the activity of growth and common change. |
Politics operating in a territory is a political gesture: concentrating on the action of contributing to the awareness that opens the way for the expression of the community itself. |
Presiding to activate permanent presidiums of contemporary art in the territories: the more these arise from the bottom, the greater the rooting in the community |
Public a truly public work must arise from the new constructive and expressive needs developed within the community and by the community itself. |
Rooted one cannot declare oneself committed and not be able to recognize oneself as part of a community: no artistic action must remain distant from it. |
Radical to be part of a liberation process that aims to transform concrete reality, becoming not only interpreters but also spokespersons for the needs of the communities. |
Trasformation making public art must necessarily transform from a policy of the community for art into a political making of art for the community. |
